Caroline Nijs Photography is now focusing on personal projects only

After several years of photographing horses in the United States and then Switzerland, and expanding my Swiss business into lifestyle boudoir photography as well, I decided it is now time to focus on my psychology studies.

It is my ultimate dream to, in due time, combine what I've learned in my studies with the photography that is still one of my great loves. But until then ...

What this was to me

A lifestyle boudoir and horse photographer, based in Kanton Schwyz, and later in Alta Langa (Piemonte).

Two very different genres, one shared premise: no changing who you are during your photo session, no changing your appearance through retouching.

Boudoir has a reputation, and I was intentionally moving away from that. My sessions were never about glamour. On the contrary, they were about giving you space to be yourself, without the expectations that the outside world imposes on you.

Horse photography has a similar angle as well. Many people want their horse in glamorous situations, whether that be an action or a location. I cared more about documenting the story of a horse and their human.

Why I don't just keep my business

Studying psychology has been on my "want to do" list for decades. I never had the chance to finish university, and with my daughter now in college, I figured that it was now or never.

The desire to pick up my studies again especially kept popping up after finding out that I am neurodivergent. And my fascination with how my horses help me regulate, as well as how photography can help with becoming more aware of yourself, made this next step ultimately inevitable.

And so photography becomes what it was before it was a business. Something I do when I feel the need.

To the people who did a session with me

If you let me photograph you exactly as you were, thank you. It was a real pleasure.

And if you haven't done a session with me but it was on your wishlist, just get in touch. I am always open to collaborations.

What happens next

The website stays up, I spent too many hours on it.

I will still post on my social media, but only to brag about my personal projects :-)

Other than that, you can find me with a syllabus somewhere, or in the field with my horses.
