Why should I choose you over other horse photographers? I'm not just a photographer who likes horses. I've owned and cared for them, and that changes how I work. I understand them, and so I don't get rattled when your horse has other plans. My style is dark and bold, and I don't alter your appearance with retouching. If that works for you, we probably will get along well.

How much time should I set aside? The consultation call takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The session itself is 2 hours, but build in some extra time because, as we said before, horses run on their own schedule. The reveal is usually an hour to an hour and a half, and will be 3 to 4 weeks after the session.

What if I need to reschedule? Rescheduling is possible, but the notice you give matters. Eight days or more and your session fee carries over with no additional cost. The closer to the session date, the more a late notice fee applies — starting at CHF 50 and going up to CHF 200 for last-minute changes. The full details are in your contract.

Will my images be shared on your social media? No. The images on my website and social media are all from workshops, not from client sessions. Your session is entirely your own, and that's where it stays unless you decide otherwise.

What should I prepare for my session? Once you've booked, I'll send you a welcome guide with everything you need to know — from what to wear to how to prep your horse. The short version: groom your horse, wear something comfortable, and consider a short lunge session beforehand to take the edge off.

What if the weather is bad? Rescheduling is always an option and there's no charge in this case. But before you do, bad weather makes for some of the most striking portraits. Rain, fog, snow: it all adds something a sunny day simply can't. Worth thinking about.

Is a consultation call really necessary? Yes. I want to know you and your horse before we spend two hours together. Where you are in your horsemanship journey, what your horse is like, what you're hoping to walk away with. And you should have a sense of who I am too. It makes for a better session.

When do I pay for my images? During the reveal, you go through your images and pick the ones you can't live without, and whether you want any tangible products. There's no minimum spend and no pressure whatsoever.

How do I choose the right location? Wherever your horse feels at home is usually the right answer. The background is important but good light and a relaxed horse will always beat a perfect setting. Which is why I only shoot during golden hour, so we'll plan around that. But this will definitely be discussed during our consultation call.

Do I need to know how to pose? No. I use poses as a starting point, but what I'm really after is the genuine interaction between you and your horse. That's not something you can plan — it just happens, and I'll be ready when it does.
